Virginia was born and raised in Columbus, Nebraska. Randy and Harriette Janicek worked hard to send Ginger, her nickname growing up, to St. Isadore’s Catholic Grade School and Scotus Central Catholic Middle & High School. She went on to received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa in 1999 and moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to follow a career in banking. She volunteered for a number of events and was the West Central Jr. High Dance Coach and West Central High School Dance & Cheer Coach. It was during this time she received the honor as one of the “2001 Ten Outstanding Young South Dakotans” awards from the South Dakota Jaycees.
Her job with U.S. Bank brought her back to Sioux City in 2001, where she helped to form the Sioux City Growth Organization. Later going on to become the 1st President of the YPIowa (Young Professionals of Iowa) board. Virginia met Jason, a financial advisors with the Siouxland Investment Group,in April of 2002. They were married in April of 2005. They enjoy their free time by spending quality time with their daughter, Bailey. On May 1, 2009, Jason and Virginia were licensed as foster parents for the State of Iowa. They did respite for 9 children and had 5 foster children.
Virginia changed career paths in August of 2006 from bank management into real estate, as Project Manager for Kelly Property Advisors. In this role, she oversaw residential real estate projects, assists in commercial development projects, and handled all office operations. It was during this time that she was Project Manager for the townhomes built on Timberline Blvd and Brookline Trail. She also assisted Kyle Kelly with the opening of his new brokerage firm, Pro-Link Realty, which launched in February 2008. In February 2011, Pro-Link Realty expanded as it purchased CENTURY 21 Davenport & Associates to form a team of 40 agents, which now operates under the name CENTURY 21 ProLink.
In February 2012, Virginia assisted Beth Trejo and Kyle Kelly with a start-up social media company with a goal to create online solutions to increase the chatter about their client’s businesses. As Director of Business Development, Virginia oversaw the day-to-day business operations, billing and HR duties. Hard work paid off and Beth Trejo was able to buy out her partner and become the sole owner of Chatterkick in 2013. Virginia continues to be a business advisor for Chatterkick as needed.
In early 2013, Virginia was promoted to Chief Operating Officer for CENTURY 21 ProLink and Kelly Property Advisors. It was at that time that Kyle brought on a new project manager to oversee the single family homes built by Kelly Property Advisors. In 2013, the company completed 3 homes. In 2014, the company completed 10 homes. In 2015, another Project Manager, Bob Gunderson was added to the team and they were able to complete and sell 16 homes. In 2016, 20 homes were sold, the company’s name was changed to Kelly Construction, Kyle purchase a storage facility for their operations and grew the operations staff. In 2017, they started building homes in Lincoln, Nebraska and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They also completed 23 homes in 2017. In 2018, they completed 18 homes and moved into the Omaha, Nebraska market. In 2019, they continue to work on growing in new communities and growing their ancillary businesses that compliment the labor or materials provided for our construction projects.
As COO for CENTURY 21 ProLink, Virginia recruited several new and existing agents to fill the void created when agents retired or moved out of the area. In 2015, the company brought on a Property Management department. And then in 2016, CENTURY 21 ProLink acquired Property Pros, a local independent real estate company. With this merger, the agent count for CENTURY 21 ProLink went to 51 agents and took over the Property Pros office in Le Mars, IA. Property Pros owners Jim Gergeni and Lisa Wagner stayed on in management roles and Lisa also received ownership in CENTURY 21 ProLink. Lisa also started a Relocation Department within our company. Virginia created an Operations Center to assist with the transaction management for their agents. The Operations Center has a Listing Coordinator, Pending Coordination, Closing Coordinator, Compliance Coordinator and Recruitment / Marketing Coordinator. In 2018, CENTURY 21 ProLink increased their territory by starting a Virtual Agent program in Spencer, IA and Onawa, IA. CENTURY 21 ProLink company closed 2020 with 1,023 units, $6,188,098 in Adjusted Gross Commissions and 60 agents.
