Winner Vs. Loser

The Winner is always part of the answer; The Loser is always part of the problem.

The Winner always has a program; The Loser always has an excuse.

The Winner says, “Let me do it for you;” The Loser says, “That is not my job.”

The Winner sees an answer for every problem; The Loser sees a problem for every answer.

The Winner says, “It may be difficult, but it is possible;” The Loser says, “It may be possible, but it is too difficult.”

When a winner make a mistake, he says, “I was wrong,” When a Loser make a mistake, he says, “It wasn’t my fault.”

A Winner make commitments; A Loser makes promises.

Winners have dreams; Losers have schemes.

Winners say, “I must do something;” Losers say, “Something must be done.”

Winners are a part of the team; Losers are apart from the team.

Winners see the gain.  Losers see the pain.

Winners see the possibilities; Losers see the problems.

Winners believe in win/win; Losers believe for them to win someone has to lose.

Winners see the potential; Losers see the past.

Winners are like a thermostat; Losers are like thermometers.

Winners choose what they say; Losers say what they choose.

Winners use hard arguments but soft words; Losers use soft arguments but hard words.

Winners stand firm on values, but compromise on petty things; Losers stand firm on petty things, but compromise on values.

Winners follow the philosophy of empathy; “Don’t do to others what you would not want them to do to you;”  Losers follow the philosophy, “Do it to others before they do it to you.”

Winners make it happen; Losers let it happen.

SYA alerts – Text MYSYA to 84483 to receive alerts from Siouxland Youth Althletics.  Also check out www.mysya.org.  They will also soon be on Facebook!

The tournament will be the week of July 9th.  We will not know till that week how the brackets will be set-up.  Be prepared, we may have to play 2 games on one night.  It’s a double elimination tournament with trophey’s awarded at the end for 1st and 2nd places.

There’s a note in my packet that asks me to tell parents NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR BEVERAGE is allowed into the park.  The only things allowed are sippy/squeezy style bottles.  We can bring the traditional style water cooler filled with water that must be kept in the dugout.  I will provide the traditional style water cooler filled with water each game.

The person in charge of treats will be asked to have treats in their car.  After the game, the team will head towards the main parking lot (if you come in by the 4 way stop) and meet together to talk about how the game went, talk about the next practice / game and then to get the treats.

No PETS allowed in the park.

Reminder that each girl needs to wear black shorts for games and have their own glove and batting helmet.  Optional items they may have are batting gloves, bat, black visors, long single line black striped socks, etc.

I do require the girls to be at the field 20 minutes before the game starts.  If they are late, someone who is on time may start in field in their place.  So, I suggest being there 30 minutes early so none of us are late.

Each team may have one coach and up to three assistant coaches in the dugout for a game.  I will always be at 3rd base.  I would like to have a parent that has helped out at practice covering 1st base.  And then I need at least one more parent in the dougout helping the girls line up, getting them water, making sure the girls are cheering for the other players, etc.  Also, I need a parent to volunteer to keep the scorebook for me each game.  You are not required to sit in the dugout for this role.

A couple of important rule changes to note:

  • No inning shall start after one hour and five minutes of play.
  • Each half inning will be limited to three (3) outs or five (5) runs, whichever comes first.
  • Coaches will bat their roster.
  • A walk will be awarded after six balls if the pitch uses a windmill motion or after four balls if the pitcher uses a slingshot motion.  The pitcher may not change the style of delivery until the batter has completed the turn at bat. A pitcher can not walk a run in… If the bases are loaded, the coach will pitch from within the pitching circle (maximum of five (5) pitches). If the ball is hit into fair territory play will resume as normal. If after five (5) pitches by the coach the ball has not been hit into fair territory the next batter in the batting order is brought up and play will resume as normal. No out is recorded.
  • The batter/runner may not run on a dropped third strike.
  • First base will be awarded only if the batter is hit while the ball is in the air.  If the ball hits the ground first it will be called a ball and no base will be Awarded
  • There is no infield fly rule in the 3rd, 4th, grade division.

4-11-2012

Today Bailey went to Fairview School. She had the best day with her classmates and her comment was “I think we got more done in a day when we were there”. It makes you realize that making things simpler will get you more done in a day.

Today Scgo meeting did a cool thing where they broke us up into 4 groups and had the 4 committee chairs come to each group for 5 minutes with one question in mind. Great efficient brainstorming session. Loved it! Kudos to the board for that one!

Things that make you go hmmmmmm. How do you get a person that lies so much that they cant tell the truth from a lie to quit lying? Let me know if you have an answer. I’m hitting up google to see what he comes up with that one.

Crazy Month

Kyle moved twice, Kyle acquired a company tripple the size of our company and Kyle had a baby boy!  Wow… a lot for Kyle, and anyone that works for him (right susan!)

A month ago today we were given the go ahead to work on the acquisition of CENTURY 21 Davenport & Associates.  We worked all day and through the evenings trying to get everything ready for the Feb 1st date.  It brought back a lot of the fun times of when I did the First Star / US Bank merger and had all the prep work prior to the date of the conversion.   Except, I never pulled an all nighter at the bank.  Now that I look back at it, I was really going insane at about 3:00 am.  It’s a good thing no one was around.

I really need to thank (and keep thanking) my family and especially Jason for all the extra kid runs and nights home without mom around while I was working this past month.  But, it definately made the kids & Jason a lot closer.  Also, my mom was awesome in volunteering to come up for a few days and stay with the kids.  Jason also had some hective deadlines at that same time so it worked perfectly!

Now, onto some more fun times now that the excitement of the announcement is over… it’s time to work hard so I can leave work at 5:00…. and not worry about getting back to work till after the kids go to bed.
