Grandpa Passing

Jason’s grandpa passed away this past Friday night overnight.  Grandpa Knutson and B were close.  So, tomorrow will be tough as we start to celebrate his life at the prayer service.  The funeral will be on Wednesday.  Most of the family has made it to town.  It will be good to see everyone tomorrow.

Got any suggestions on how to handle it with kids that are her age?  I don’t think it’s hit her yet and probably will not till we see him in the cascet.  She wipes away tears when we go to their house, but she hasn’t cried yet.

Old Video’s

When Bailey was about 1, we purchased a camcorder.  This was before digital camcorders were out.

We’ll after 5 years, I finally figured out how to turn the video on tapes into digital video’s!  Wow… some great memories!  So far my favorite

1.  Bailey at her 3rd Birthday Party saying “Thank you for coming to my birthday party!”

2.  Bailey surprised look on her face when walking in on her Surprise Birthday Party when she turned 4.

3.  Bailey’s first look at what Santa Clause gave her when she turned 1

4.  Welcoming my brother home from Iraq

5.  Standing up for my sister in her wedding

6.  Watching how we moved houses down hamilton on a snowy icey day (we were crazy!)

7.  Seeing Roberts face when ISU lost their game on a Saturday at the Janicek Thanksristmas a few years ago.

8.  watching Bailey cout to 20 (skipping 16, 18 and 19)

9.  watching Bailey try to blow out a candle

10.  watching Bailey and Jason go sledding in our backyard late one night.

And the best is yet to come – – Jason and my wedding video’s!

Mom & B grocery shopping

What a way to spend an hour on a Monday morning. B got out of school this past Monday to go shopping with mom. Well kind of. We actually had all of our groceries already rounded up by the time we got there. We just had to drive our cart through. Smile a few times. Try not to fall off the cart during a shot (B had it rough). And head back to school.

This photo will be used by the City of Sioux City in their recent Progress Edition showcasing food varies in Sioux City. Also for future marketing.

Quota

Tonight I put the final touches on my powerpoint for the Quota meeting tomorrow.  I am giving a presentation on Social Media.  Pretty much I am plagerizing a whole buch of powerpoints that were posted onto www.slideshare.com.  This is the BEST WEBSITE EVER!

Moji got sick last week – – had an ear infection – – got better – – got neutured – – surgery went bad – – got sick again.  But he is MUCH better now.  The hardest part about this whole thing is that grandma is responsible for giving him his medicine, and she can’t remember when to give him and what to give him.  It’s hard to have someone go through this.

Bailey had Prep tonight.  We also started working on the Our Father.  Why do they make a 1st grader memorize a prayer that even a 32 year old still wonders what some of the phrases exactly mean?  I can generalize the prayer, but trying to explain to a 1st grader what “who art in heaven, hallow be thy name” means.

This week Bailey is the star student, so we picked up stuff at the store to make treats for Friday.  We are going to make jello pond – – it’s jello with fish in it and a hooked worm tries to catch the fish.  If it works out, I’ll post a picture tomorrow.

Jason worked late tonight and now is in bed on his computer.  Better get off facebook/blog and talk to him in person.

Nite.

Disney Trip Planning

Flight – check

Hotels – check

Disney tickets – check

Disney Restaurant Reservation – to be done October 27th

This is the last of the reservations needed to plan our perfect, once in a lifetime trip to Orlando/Daytona.  This 10 day trip with our family and my parents is destined to be perfect the more and more I research about these areas.  I have researched almost every Disney website – – I am currently reading a 2010 guide I rented from a library – – and finally started looking over the visitor guid to Daytona.  Daytona is the only piece that I really don’t have pinpointed down yet.  But, the budget is set.  The packing list is ready and the guidebooks, autograph books and luggage tickets are done.

Vantus Bank

My husband has been calling it since late last week. He was even asking other banks employees last week if they wants to camp out in the Vantus Bank parking lot this Friday at 4:45.

He was however off on the time. Everyone thought the take over would happen at 5. He was camped out in the parking lot at 5. Dave was there with the Sioux City Journal, a tv camera was there, but no odd cars in the lot (except ours). Bailey forgot some items at home, so we ran home to grab them. We had to go by Vantus on our way out of town.

Every employees car was in the parking lot still. Weird huh, on a Friday, so we knew it was definitely going to happen. In the lot, I noticed a car from Texas and one from Missouri with suits in them. It was getting close to 5:30, so we camped out till then.

On the nose of 5:30, 2 women got out of each cars and grabbed their bags out of the trunk. The 4 women joined 2 men and the door to Vantus was unlocked for them.

Good-bye First Federal / Vantus Bank. You will be missed.

I feel bad to have captured it on camera and video, but at the same time glad. We are the only one’s I saw that captured this moment in our community history.

Now, an employee has to be going thru way more emotions about this than any of us. We need to wish them all the best in their next phase of their careers.

Off to KC…….. Finally!

We’ll we have survived the first week of 1st Grade. No homework – – YET! But, one of our favorite parts of school started today, LIBRARY. Except, she brought home a book today that we read SEVERAL times last year. Oh well….

Today we did have drama though. Her friend D told her a secret and asked her to not tell anyone. She “forgot” and told J. D found out and wouldn’t talk to Bailey the rest of the day. She told me about it and was sad that D was mad at her. So, she wrote a card to D and we delivered it at her house tonight. Hopefully everything is better tomorrow! We’ll see.

At least it’s not boy trouble – – YET.

Craig & Bailey

Originally uploaded by Virginia Anderson

Thank you Craig and Cara for asking our entire family to be apart of the entire day. 4 years, 4 months and 6 days after your first day, we are finally here!

8:30 – pick up Cara’s gift from Craig
9:00 – pick up Craig’s gift from Cara – it did not arrive – panic
9:15 – take Craig’s gift to Cara – she paniced that his gift didn’t arrive. But luckily we all have connections. Elise Greenberg was out of town, but Amanda’s sister-in-law (who was in Okoboji) got in touch with Elise’s sister Amy to get a watch at Greenberg’s.
9:15 – Bailey gets her hair done
10:00 – I get my hair done
11:00 – head to Greenberg’s
11:30 – watch has arrived at the church – realized it was a ladie’s watch (can you tell I don’t wear one?)
12:00 – dressed and ready for pics
1:00 – eat – bailey tried to drink grape soda
2:00 walk down the isle – Bailey dropped her lipstick at the very end, just like mom said she would.
3:00 – ceremony over – no tears shed – I just lost a $2 bet to Bailey
3:30 – bridesmaid room clean and heading into the limo!
3:35 – already teaching Bailey how to “cheers”
3:45 – pictures at the riverfront – bailey mad cause she can’t go with us the rest of the time. I think Cara is better at bribing my daughter then I am. We need to her with us all the time!
5:00 – arrive at the reception – – it’s all a blurr from here…

The Best Man speech went awesome. I think it got Jason over his fear of talking in public.

Our gift to them was decorating their hotel room. The candles were lit at 10:45, the pizza arrived at 11:00, and then they decided to extend the wedding dance 1 hour. UGH. We checked the room at 12:30, still not on fire, thank god. We stole a piece of pizza. Showed it to Cara and then finally they headed to their room.

A day I will never forget! It still hasn’t hit me that we won’t see them as much since all of this is over. 😦
