1st Grade

We’ll we have survived the first week of 1st Grade. No homework – – YET! But, one of our favorite parts of school started today, LIBRARY. Except, she brought home a book today that we read SEVERAL times last year. Oh well….

Today we did have drama though. Her friend D told her a secret and asked her to not tell anyone. She “forgot” and told J. D found out and wouldn’t talk to Bailey the rest of the day. She told me about it and was sad that D was mad at her. So, she wrote a card to D and we delivered it at her house tonight. Hopefully everything is better tomorrow! We’ll see.

At least it’s not boy trouble – – YET.

Craig & Bailey

Originally uploaded by Virginia Anderson

Thank you Craig and Cara for asking our entire family to be apart of the entire day. 4 years, 4 months and 6 days after your first day, we are finally here!

8:30 – pick up Cara’s gift from Craig
9:00 – pick up Craig’s gift from Cara – it did not arrive – panic
9:15 – take Craig’s gift to Cara – she paniced that his gift didn’t arrive. But luckily we all have connections. Elise Greenberg was out of town, but Amanda’s sister-in-law (who was in Okoboji) got in touch with Elise’s sister Amy to get a watch at Greenberg’s.
9:15 – Bailey gets her hair done
10:00 – I get my hair done
11:00 – head to Greenberg’s
11:30 – watch has arrived at the church – realized it was a ladie’s watch (can you tell I don’t wear one?)
12:00 – dressed and ready for pics
1:00 – eat – bailey tried to drink grape soda
2:00 walk down the isle – Bailey dropped her lipstick at the very end, just like mom said she would.
3:00 – ceremony over – no tears shed – I just lost a $2 bet to Bailey
3:30 – bridesmaid room clean and heading into the limo!
3:35 – already teaching Bailey how to “cheers”
3:45 – pictures at the riverfront – bailey mad cause she can’t go with us the rest of the time. I think Cara is better at bribing my daughter then I am. We need to her with us all the time!
5:00 – arrive at the reception – – it’s all a blurr from here…

The Best Man speech went awesome. I think it got Jason over his fear of talking in public.

Our gift to them was decorating their hotel room. The candles were lit at 10:45, the pizza arrived at 11:00, and then they decided to extend the wedding dance 1 hour. UGH. We checked the room at 12:30, still not on fire, thank god. We stole a piece of pizza. Showed it to Cara and then finally they headed to their room.

A day I will never forget! It still hasn’t hit me that we won’t see them as much since all of this is over. 😦

Friday Night Rehersal

Bailey 2009

Originally uploaded by Virginia Anderson

Tonight was Cara and Craig’s Rehersal & Dinner. Bailey had to meet her ring bearer, Jack. She was very shy at first. But by the end, they were willing to hold arms and practice walking down the isle. At dinner, she tried to play with Jack, but her cousins wanted to play also. But, she sat by Sydney and grandpa and enjoyed the evening.

She got her tiera from Cara for the wedding day and a Flower Girl bag to carry her items in. She was shocked with the tiara because she was there when they picked it out, but forgot Cara had bought it.

The night didn’t start out good though. Dad was suppose to pick her up from school at 3:30. They were to go home and get dressed and pick me up at 4:00. They picked me up at 4, but were not changed. She insisisted that she didn’t like the white pants and didn’t want to wear them. We picked out the outfit a week earlier. This was what she was going to wear. I was not giving in. There were dramatic tears shed, but in the end she agreed to wear them if I let her wear the pink curley hair. It didn’t go with the orange shirt, but it’s always fun when she wears it.

Cara looked beautiful tonight. Craig looked calm. At one point I thought that I never even doubt that either one of them will go through with this. That’s true love. Can’t wait for tomorrow.

Today at the bridesmail lunch, Cara asked me to pick-up Craig’s watch at the Fed Ex store at 9:00. Later that night, Craig asked me to pick up his gift to Cara and give it to her at the hair appointment. I’m honored to be their go between gal….

Anderson Wedding

This past weekend Jason and I headed in different directions and left Bailey behind.  Jason headed to Omaha with his brother, Randy, to host Craig’s Bachelor Party.  I dropped Bailey off at Dani’s house and headed North to Okoboji for my future sister-in-laws Bachellorette Party.  I think all three of us had a fun weekend apart.  I guess it is good for everyone to take a break every once in a while.

There were a few at the bars on Saturday night that tried to convience Cara to not get married.  Luckily I was there to remind her how cool of a sister-in-law I will be!  That’s good enough reason to walk down the isle and marry Craig.  He he he he….

If you don’t know the story, it’s a cute one.  So Jason and I met Cara up at the Sioux City Country Club when we were members (before we were married).  She was always the bartender in the bar upstairs when we would go in for a drink.  I gave everyone in my wedding party one task – – they had to bring a date to the wedding.  Craig was not giving me any indications that he was working on his date.  So, while having a drink one night, we asked Cara to come to our wedding as Craig’s date.  She said he would have to ask.  We passed on the message and she came as his date.   And on August 22nd, 4 years and 4 months and 6 days later, they are getting married.

Looking forward to it all.  I’ll post pictures after the big day for everyone to see.

Wedding Shower

On Saturday, we celebrated 2 wedding showers for Cara to attend. It was unfortunate that Bailey was tired, but we still had fun.

Shower #1-Whites-its always good to hang with family and especially nice to have Cindy there with me. Usually I’m the only one from this side of the family at these things because everyone else lives out of town. Also Molly and Pete were back, so Bailey hung out with their kids. We played a fun game, Sandy passed a bowel of skittles around and asked each of us to take some. No clue why we were taking them, so I took 5 (my favorite number). I also took mostly red (for Cara’s wedding colors) and a yellow one. So, you had to give a fact about yourself for every skittle you took.

Wedding Shower #2 – we were at the home of the Meyers.  Very unique decor, but it is definately cool.  We played a “guess what Cara’s answers would be”.  I was very excited to get 8 of them correct.

The night ended with us at Grandma and Grandpa Knutson’s house watching the car race with Cara, Craig, Cindy, Robin and Sydney.

Bailey and Sydney created open houses for us to visit on the sidewalks outside.  VERY CUTE!

Kidos

We had kidos the past two days. A 2 year old and a 5 year old. They were great kids! The first night the little one had trouble falling asleep, but last night was great. How do people do baths with more than one kid?
